G7L Tethered Lighting Drone

G7L Tethered Lighting Drone

The use of UAVs equipped with lighting capabilities is quite widespread in the industry. They are designed to provide continuous, mobile lighting 24/7 across a variety of fields, ranging from nighttime emergency rescue, firefighting, public safety, and infrastructure projects to military operations.

The system’s portability is critical for search and rescue operations by Gendarmerie traffic teams at the scene of a vehicle rollover, for railway maintenance crews assessing derailed railcars, or for police operations along waterways. Developed to meet these needs, the G7L model—with a total equipment weight of less than 30 kg—is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, featuring Level 10 rain resistance and Class 6 wind resistance. The system features a 1000W LED lighting array capable of remaining suspended in the air for extended periods thanks to an uninterruptible power supply, providing a high brightness of 120,000 lumens.

The UAV, designated as G7L, can reach a flight altitude of up to 50 meters. Connected to the power unit via a cable, the system can be controlled using a handheld remote control that is operable with one hand without the need for a professional UAV pilot; it offers one-button takeoff and landing capabilities. If external power is lost, the internal backup battery continues to provide power for approximately 5 minutes; during this time, the system emits an audible alarm, and the cable can be safely retrieved using the automatic cable rewind mechanism. In the absence of 220V AC mains voltage, the backup battery support ends at the end of the fifth minute. The power unit must be stored in a suitable location with adequate airflow for efficient operation.

Lighting Test

In a lighting test conducted by raising our cable-lit aircraft to an altitude of 10 m (AGL), 294 lux was measured on the ground; at an altitude of 15 m (AGL), 136 lux was measured; and during flight at an altitude of 20 m (AGL), 82 lux was measured. The images showing the results of the measurements taken at 10m, 15m, and 20m using a lux meter are as follows.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

In this section, you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked technical and usage questions about the product.

How long can the G7L Wired Lighting Drone stay in the air?

Unlike traditional battery-powered drones, the G7L model is not limited by flight time because it receives uninterrupted power via a cable from the ground station. By providing 24/7 uninterrupted lighting with 220V mains or generator support, it prevents your operations from being interrupted.

What are the lighting capacity and coverage area?

The system is equipped with high-efficiency LED modules rated at 1,000 watts and produces a total of 120,000 lumens of brightness. Capable of reaching heights of up to 50 meters, the G7L can illuminate an area of 8,000 square meters on its own.

Can it be used in harsh weather conditions?

Yes. The G7L is designed to withstand Class 10 rain resistance and Class 6 wind resistance (approximately 10.8–13.8 m/s), taking into account the challenges of field operations. This allows it to operate safely in stormy or rainy weather.

Do you need a professional drone pilot to operate it?

No, the G7L has been designed to be user-friendly. Thanks to its ergonomic, one-handed control and “one-button takeoff and landing” features, it can be easily operated by your staff without requiring extensive pilot training.

What happens if the power goes out during the operation?

Safety is the top priority in the system. If the external power source is cut off, the internal backup battery kicks in to provide power for approximately 5 more minutes. During this time, the system sounds an audible alarm, and the drone can be safely landed using the automatic cable retraction mechanism.

How long does it take to set up the system, and how portable is it?

The G7L is highly portable; the total weight of the equipment (including the power unit and UAV) is less than 30 kg. Once on-site, it can be set up and made ready for flight in approximately 5 minutes, which offers a significant advantage in situations requiring an emergency response.
